The Blogging Life of a Not-So-Desperate-Housewife

Ok, I know, it's less than 3 hours until my plane departs. Security check points, checking bags, dragging a 2 1/2 year old through the airport with me, blah, blah, blah. But I would be terribly remiss if I didn't take just a moment from my hectic morning schedule to brag on someone for very good reason. DALLAS COWBOYS FANS: take note. Last night I sat at Bahama Buck's in Lewisville whilst a very quiet young man and his delightful lady friend sat at the table behind us. Speaking respectfully, enjoying a frosty shaved ice, and the summer evening. There was no loud music, no ton of pot, no alcohol, just 2 great kids ( I can say that 'cause I'm getting so doggone old). My friend and I wouldn't have even given them a second glance except that a girl came up and asked the young man for an autograph. We overcame our embarrassment to our obvious ignorance and asked him if he was "somebody", to which he replied, "well kind of ma'am, I play for the Dallas Cowboys, my name is Chris Canty". What an incredible young man. Polite, friendly, respectful. I can think of several "athletes" that could take a lesson or two from this young man. *and not to embarrass Mr. Canty, but I'd also like to point out that he and his date had spilled a few napkins in the outdoor pavilion and he stooped down below the table to pick them ALL up and took them to the trash can, before he walked his date to the car and opened the door for her.* I am not a football fan, certainly I do not know any players by sight, but I can guarantee you that from now on, when someone asks me who my favorite player is, I will answer without hesitation, "Chris Canty with the Dallas Cowboys is my favorite player, not because of who he is on the football field, but because of who he holds himself as on the field of life". Hats off to you Mr. Canty. Thank you for reminding me that athletes are not ALL obnoxious self-promoters.

I know, I know, how soon she starts, how soon she departs -
But know that I am only going to be on a little hiatus, California beckons and I must answer her call! The little DG man and I are headed for my SIL's house to visit with the family as they are getting ready to call it quits in Cali and head on to other adventures. We want to get in one last visit to the land of fruit and nuts and do some adventuring with the cousins before they skitter off. Who knows, they might end up in Alaska this time and visits would be fewer and farther between than ever before! If you think I'm off-mark, just talk to my BIL a few times.... he's up for just about anything! Ok, so everyone hang tight, enjoy the additional links I've set up for you, read about my precious monkey boy, and I'll be back before you've even noticed I'm gone!

Today marks the first day of the rest of my life. A life free of the restraints of a toxic family and a life free to raise my child to the best of my abilities, be the best wife I can be and pursue a relationship with God that will guide me for the rest of my days. Today is a gift, the present, if you will and I intend to enjoy it like never before! I used to think that blogging was silly, maybe even a blight on humanity as we take turns living a voyeuristic life, peering into others lives as though we have the right to pass judgment or possibly even interject ourselves into THEIR reality. I still stand by that to some extent, I honestly believe we are just a few short years away from "The Running Man", as is evident in our choice of reality titles (Survivor anyone?), but I also see it as a purging of my own thoughts. To release them not into the dark, dank corners of a rotting paper diary, but to set them free into a world that I cannot control and to be perfectly and wonderfully freed by that thought. So stayed tuned here for some pointless ramblings and more....

The DailyGrimes is coming back to life. One kid, a bunch of crises, a year's time and who knows what else later and the website is coming back! Things will be moving quickly as I add on new links, new features and bring new life to this creaky ol' thing! Feel free to offer suggestions by email here.
